Tshwane Academy

When South Africa hosted the 2010 Soccer World Cup, we all thought that was a once in a life time experience but for Tshwane Highlanders Football Academy participating at next year’s 12th edition of the MIC Mediterranean International Cup, a world youth cup which will be held in Spain, is a once in a life time opportunity that cannot be missed.
The Spanish La Liga is home to the footballing gods such as Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Xavi and Iniesta; and it is every football fan’s dream to meet these stars and 28 youngsters from Tshwane wish not only to live the dream but go a step further and set foot on the turf that has been trodden by the likes of Messi, as a trip to the famed Nou Camp – home to FC Barcelona is a major attraction.
The goal of MIC is to offer “any youth football player the chance to meet and compete against the most famous clubs of the world. Some of the past participants of the MIC including Messi, Cesc Fabregas and Gerard Pique (FC Barcelona), Anderson (Manchester United), Lucas (Liverpool FC), Marcelo (Real Madrid) and Neymar (Santos FC) are now playing for top division clubs.”

Next year’s tournament will be held from Tuesday 3 to Sunday 8 April and the Tshwane boys have the privilege of being the only South African team invited for this tournament. The team’s under 17 and under 19 squads will play the likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid, Espanyol, Brazil national team, china, Liverpool and other best clubs around the world.

This shapes out as an occasion for South Africa to export its talent while in the process nurturing future talent for the local game and for the national talent. The game of football is won at grass roots level when proper investment is put, and next year’s tournament is an investment into our football hence a call for those who can to come forth and help the academy boys of Tshwane Highlanders make the trip to Spain.
A little something from here and another from there will go a long way in seeing these teenagers who are tomorrow’s Mark Fish, Lucas Radebe, Phil Masinga, Dr Khumalo, Benni, Teko Modise achieve the dreams. And maybe from them the first South African to win the African Footballer of the Year Award and even the World Footballer of the Year will be born.

Help shape the future, help achieve the dream, help make the trip to Spain a success. For further details contact the Mr Alpheus Thantsha of Tshwane Highlanders Football Academy via email on: theimmortals.thfa@vodamail.co.za, fax: 0862760679; cell: 0711115111; Tel: 012 808 5035

Tshwane Highlanders Football Academy (THFA) was formed in March 2009 with a unique vision of removing young people away from the streets and placing them in an environment that is full of great rewards, a promising and successful future in reference to upcoming leadership. Also to urge young people to see and view life from a different angle, a true and positive dimension. The main objective is to develop players in every aspect of the game, unite people in the name of football and to contribute in developing football stars for our National team.
