Bafana Bafana’s first 2014 wolrd cup qualifier game took place at Royal Bafokeng Stadium on Sunday.  In preparation for these games, SAFA did not only go as far as appointing Steve Khompela  as an assistant coach to Pitso, they also brought Siyabonga Nomvete who is a top goal scorer of the season and further settled the debt of iNyanga (Witchdoctor)  , Sbonelo Madela who was claiming that SAFA owes him R90,000 of the R100 000 agreed upon when he worked at the stadium in Bloemfontein during the 2010 world cup where Bafana Bafana was playing against France. Sboniso Madela assured the nation that now that he has been paid Bafana Bafana will start seeing the back of the net and start scoring goals. With that in mind South Africans had hope that Bafana Bafana will now dance for the right reasons but once again they let us down.

Pitso Mosimane who always says ” the boys played very well” in every loss and draw once again defended himself after  a disappointing  draw against Ethiopia. This is what he said to defend his poor game plan, ‘ We don’t want to accept … let’s change the programmes. It took Spain 80 years to win the World Cup, but they had to change their programmes. What programmes do we have? We don’t change the formula yet we expect different results, Whether I’m here or not they will miss the chances.’All this does not justify Bafana Bafana’s disappointing performance as they had to win at all cost against Ethopia.

SAFA finally decided to release Pitso who has suffered criticism since he started coaching Bafana Bafana  from his contract. There has been rumors that Gordon Igesund , Moroka Swallows coach will be taking over as the new coach for Bafana Bafana but it has not been  confirmed yet.

The formula has been changed slightly, the iNyanga (Witchdoctor)  has been paid, Steve Khompela still assistant coach, Syabonga Nomvete who has scored 20 goals last season available to play for the national team, Pitso Mosimane gone and the new coach on the way. Will this work for Bafana Bafana or do they need to bring Benni McCarthy into the party to turn things around? Maybe Pitso was right when he said that a different coach won’t make a difference? All this will be revealed after the next game against Botswana.
